Harrisville, NY: Mrs. Alice June (Kinne) LaParr, 85, passed away peacefully, in the comfort of her home on Thursday, March 22, 2018 while surrounded by her loving family and under the care of Hospice of Lewis County.

Alice was born December 12, 1932, the daughter of the late Elmer J. and Mary Jane (McCarthy) Kinne. She attended Watertown Area Schools and on June 25, 1949 she married Charles F. LaParr at the Church of the Redeemer in Watertown with Rev. Denny, officiating. The couple moved to Star Lake and finally to Harrisville, where they raised their seven children.

Alice worked for J. J. Newberry’s and BaJolly’s General Store in Watertown. Later she worked cleaning local businesses in Harrisville, as a cook/waitress for Kilbourn’s Hotel and for Scanlon’s Bakery, retiring in September 1994 after 12 years. Through the years, Alice enjoyed hunting, fishing, collecting rare coins, crossword puzzles and crime & detective shows. Alice also enjoyed watching her brother Bill play in the Black River Fiddlers and going to the local diner for coffee with friends. She was a member of the Owl Mountain Hunting Club with her family. She will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother to her large family. She had a big heart and a gentle spirit and could always make you smile.

Alice is survived by six children; Denis (Nan) LaParr, Mary (Phillip) Schmitt, Dale (Tina Kohl) LaParr, Denise (Jay) Seymour, all of Harrisville; Susan (Roger) Pierce of Carthage, Brenda (Bruce) Phillips of Leesburg, FL; daughter–in-law, Joanne LaParr of Harrisville and a brother, Bill Kinne of Brownville. Also surviving are three sisters-in-law, Rose (Sam) Scudera of Watertown; Helen Delong of Carthage and Aleeta Crane of Newton Falls, 17 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild and many nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by her husband, Charles; two sons, Duane (Buck) LaParr and Darren William LaParr, a sister, Evelyn Randall, two brothers, John (Jack) and Charles Kinne, a great-grandson Michael Pierce, and an Aunt Edna McCarthy, whom helped raise her.

She loved us all!!

We are so sorry that Aunt Alice has passed. We feel bad that we couldn't get to
see her and the rest of the family that were with her. The visits we had with her
were so enjoyable. Also the ones with both your parents, they were pretty special
people. Hard to believe it has been 51 years since we spent our honeymoon at your
home....what a wonderful time that was! We will see you on Wednesday. Love to all
