Lois Finegan Obituary

WHITESBORO, NY ~ Lois “Gram” Finegan, 96, passed away peacefully in her home with family by her side on Thursday, February 15, 2024.

Born in Utica, NY on October 29, 1927, the daughter of Austin and Edna (Hayes) Coyne, she was a graduate of Clinton High School and later attended Oswego State College.

She married Kenneth Finegan on June 24, 1950 at the Church of the Annunciation in Clark Mills. Mr. Finegan died on November 24, 2003.

“Gram” was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a devout Catholic, but her true devotion belonged to sifting through local garage sales and consignment shops. She loved to travel and was well known throughout the area as a wonderful lady who enjoyed visiting with people and patronizing local restaurants.

Surviving are her seven children, Barbara and husband, Larry Sardelli, of New Hartford, Judy and husband, Wayne Levi, of Naples, FL, Diane and husband, Greg Williams, of New Hartford, Carol Volo, of Clark Mills, Kenneth and wife, Lisa Finegan, of Sauquoit, Robert Finegan, of Whitesboro, and Mary Finegan and partner, Honorable Louis Gigliotti, of New Hartford; 17 grandchildren, Terry (Michelle) Sardelli, Erin (Kevin) McCauley, Sara (Ken) Rachon, Lisa (Ross) O’Donovan, Michelle (Rob) Moran, Lauren (Christopher) Podlucky, Christine (Christopher) Behm, Brian (Alison) Levi, Kelly (John) Fiedler, Amy (Dan) O’Brien, Lindsey Lighton, Hannah Finegan, Kenneth Finegan, Jr., Taylor Volo, Colin Volo, Matthew Black and Morgan Black, and 26 great grandchildren.

In addition to her loving husband, Kenneth,  of 53 years, she was predeceased by two brothers, Francis and William Coyne.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Lois will be held on Friday, February 23rd, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Paul’s Church in Whitesboro. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery in New Hartford.

It was Lois’s wish to NOT have floral offerings.

All of the Finegan family would like to thank Hospice & Palliative Care, and especially Irene, for the wonderful care provided to their mother and family.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
