HARRISVILLE, NY ~ Craig R. Mitchell, 57, of 14327 Maple St., Harrisville, died unexpectedly Sunday evening April 9, 2017 after being stricken at his home.

Born in Watertown, NY on February 17, 1960, a son of Robert G. and Dawn (Paul) Mitchell, he graduated from Lyme Central School in Chaumont with the Class of 1979. He later attended Jefferson Lewis BOCES and received a degree in Farm Production Management.

He married Heather Parow in Cape Vincent on April 4, 2009.

He was currently employed by the former Best Distributors, now Eagle Beverage in Watertown where he had been a delivery driver for over 18 years.

Surviving in addition to his wife, Heather, is his son, Paul, at home; three stepchildren, Josh Weeks and his fiancée, Mariah Carr, of Harrisville, Nathan Weeks and his fiancée, Tiffany Sumner, of Eugene, Oregon and Emily Weeks, of Harrisville.  Also surviving is his father, Robert, his siblings, Connie Mitchell, of Chaumont, Colin and Tina Mitchell, of LaFargeville, Carrie Sue and her companion, Rick Woodside, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his mother, Dawn.

Craig was an avid outdoorsman who kept himself busy by working on tractors, mowers and haying.  He was well known for and will always be happily remembered as a famous and practical joker, especially loving to catch his friends off guard in any way he could.  Above all, he thoroughly loved spending any time he could with his son, wife and wonderful family.

Addditionally, he was an active member of the Three Mile Bay Fire Department and an EMT Instructor First Responder for 20 years.

Craig's funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 13, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Bezanilla-McGraw Funeral Home, 518 State St., Carthage, NY 13619, with the Rev. Christopher J. Looby, officiating.  Burial will follow in St. Lawrence Union Cemetery, Clayton, NY.

Calling hours will be on Wednesday, April 12, 2017, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Bezanilla-McGraw Funeral Home, Carthage.

Memorial contributions may be made to a Trust Fund to be established for his son, Paul Mitchell, c/o of Citizens Bank of Cape Vincent, Chaumont Branch, 12084 NY-12E, Chaumont, NY 13622.
