In his early years he loved to hunt, and spend time with family and friends at his hunting Camp in the Adirondacks.   Dave was an avid outdoorsman who appreciated all that nature had to offer, and was a sports fan devoted to the Baltimore Orioles and Ravens.

He is survived by his beloved children Keith, Kenneth and Laurie, and their spouses, a brother Phil Hathway, of Harrisville; 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren, and the families of Carl (Smokey) Mealus and John (Jack) Mealus.  He was predeceased by his wife, Janet Baker Hathway and his brother, Don Hathway.

To the Family of Director David Hathway:

On behalf of the men and women of the Maryland Park Service, please accept my condolences for your loss. We too feel that we have lost a treasured member of our family, as Dave provided dedicated, outstanding leadership to a generation of Rangers and other park staff who shared his devotion to public service and an ideal greater than any one of us. Please know that Dave left a lasting legacy that will live on beyond all of us and we, as the personification of that legacy, will be eternally grateful.

Lieutenant Colonel Christopher Bushman
Deputy Superintendent
Maryland Park Service

Dave was a treasure. A more beautiful person does not exist. My cousin but more like a brother. What a devoted Father, Son, Brother and friend. He will never be forgotten. How fortunate we all were to have him in our lives.

Phil and Dave's Family,
Debbie and I wish to express our sincere sympathy to all of you on Dave's passing. We are in FL and just found out about his death and Aunt Helen Jenacks. I guess I won't be bumping into him this spring in Walmart. Seems like that was the place to have a visit and a good laugh together the past few years. I remember a "Hey, John, help me get this air conditioner down and into the cart." He really loved getting back to the north country, and he will be missed. Once again, our deepest sympathy. We will be making a contribution to the Lake Bonaparte Conservation Club in Dave's memory.

The John and Debbie Hathway Family.

Keith, Kenny, Laurie, Phil and all of the Family;

Don't even know where to begin. We were so blessed to have been able to reconnect with him in the last few years and have enjoyed all of our visits with him wheather it was over a bowl of his favorite macaroni beef soup or just stoppping at the house to say hi when he arrived. He was a wonderful person to all of us and so glad that our kids had the chance to get to know him too. I know Randy and Carson enjoyed having a beer with him and of course talk hunting whenever the opportunity presented itself, whcih with them was every conversation I think ;). He will be missed but never forgotten! Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you! Please let us know if there is anything we can do before you all arrive next week.

Dave was special! He was our neighbor, friend and classmate. We live in Florida and each time we come home we manage to visit. Fortunately we had lunch with him at Harrisville August 2011. Many laughs and sharing about the good old days. We shall miss him.
Sorry for your lost but we know he has left many good memories.
love to all;
Jack and Denise
