Stephan Granacki Obituary

ROME, NY ~ Stephan P. Granacki, 35, of 8308 Greenview Dr., Rome, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, December 24, 2014 at Rome Memorial Hospital after being stricken at home.

Born February 11, 1979, in Rome, NY, the son of Stephan A. and Sally A. Hinton, he was a 1997 graduate of Rome Free Academy, and was a 2001 graduate of Colgate University.

Stephan loved the restaurant business, and after college, he worked at many of the finer dining establishments in the Albany area where he held a number of positions including management level roles.  His particular passion and expertise was his wonderful ability to pair great cuisine with fine wine.

At the time of his death, he was working in Sales Training at Fiber Instrument Sales, Inc., in Oriskany, NY.

Throughout his young life, he took great joy in meeting and talking with people from all over.  He enjoyed the company of many friends and was kind and loving in the lives he touched.  He was an avid snow skier, loved his music and pasta fagioli, enjoyed an occasional golfing trip to “Teugega”, and most of all, spending time with his family, especially his loving sister, who was his constant inspiration.

Surviving are his parents including his mother and stepfather, Sally H. and Thomas J. Arcuri, and his father and stepmother, Stephan A. and Michele M. Granacki; his sister and brother-in-law, Kristin L. and Mark L. Leonard; his maternal grandmother, Anne R. Hinton; paternal grandparents, Janet K. and Paul L. Pileckas; his uncle, William J. Hinton; his cherished nephew, Bowen M. Leonard, all of Rome, NY, and his stepsister, Clarissa A. Arcuri, of West Chase, FL.

He was predeceased by his paternal grandfather, Bernard S. Granacki, and maternal grandfather, William M. Hinton.

Stephan’s funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 30, 2014, beginning with a 9:45 a.m. Prayer Service at Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, 418 N. George St., Rome, followed by a 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial from St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Rome, with the Rev. Philip A. Hearn, Pastor, officiating.  Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Rome.

Calling hours for relatives and friends will be on Monday, December 29th, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial Donations may be made to Toys for Tots, c/o E.L. Smith Detachment, Marine Corps League, 307 Adam St., Rome, NY 13440 or to a charity of one’s choice.

A very special “thank you” to Heidi and Samantha Vernold for their continuous support, love and kindness.
