Sidney Robert Perfetto, Croghan, passed away on the 15th of February, 2018, at his home. He was 71 years old. Cause of death was end stage heart failure after a decades long battle with ischemic heart disease caused by his exposure to Agent Orange in Vietnam.
Sid was born in Watertown on December 29, 1946 to the late Arthur Joseph Dube and Beatrice Pearl Smith Dube Perfetto. He was adopted by his beloved stepfather, Leonard Perfetto.
Sid was a 1965 Carthage High graduate. He entered the Marine Corps in September, 1966, and served 18 months in Vietnam. He received the meretorious mast commendation, and other awards, and retired from the Marine Corps as a Staff Sergeant. From 1976 to 1991, Sid served in the National Guard 127th Maintenance Company, Carthage, as Retention NCO.
From December 1970 to June 1995, Sid worked for the NYS DoL as Employment Interviewer for the Watertown and Lowville offices. He retired due to his advancing heart disease.
On February 14, 1990, at their home, Sid married the former Lida Fikes Hadlow with the Reverend Richard Zehr officiating.
Sid served on the Treasury Committee at his church, the Beaver Falls Methodist Church.
Sid is survived and honored by his wife, Lida, step-daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer (Hadlow) and Christian Wright. By step-grandsons, Stephen Shambo (Madalyn Widrick), Timothy Shambo (Calla Morrison), William Shambo, Taine Millward and Aiden Millward. Also a brother, Leo Dube (Onelia) of Homestead, Florida, aunts, an uncle, cousins, and many, many friends.
He was predeceased by his parents, one half-brother, Joseph Dube, and two half-sisters, Lorraine Dube Feltovic (John) and Shirley Dube Fortenberry (William).
Sid's family wish to thank the Beaver Falls United Methodist Church congregation, including pastors David Hermann and Bruce Chapman. Also the Lewis County Search and Rescue crew, and the Croghan Fire Department, and Trooper Gary Wolff. A special thanks to Dr. Mirza Ashraf of Carthage, and his staff, for the decades long skillful diagnostic care in the monitoring of Sid's health.
Sid was greatly loved, and he will be greatly missed.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the Scanlon Funeral Home, Croghan. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at 11:00 am at the Beaver Falls United Methodist Church with Pastor’s Herrmann and Chapman, officiating. A luncheon will follow the service at the church. Burial in the Champion Cemetery will be in the spring.
