Ronnie Jones Obituary
GLENFIELD/HARRISVILLE, NY ~ Ronnie J. Jones, 56, of 6566 Bradish Rd., Glenfield, formerly of Harrisville, died unexpectedly on Saturday, May 23, 2015 at SUNY Upstate Medical Center, Syracuse, where he had been airlifted to on Thursday, May 21st from Lewis County General Hospital after being stricken earlier that day at his residence.
Born September 5, 1958 in Gouverneur, NY, a twin son of Randall L. and Evelyn Ladouceur Jones, he was educated in Harrisville, Fowler and Hermon DeKalb elementary schools, and later attended various Lewis Co. ARC workshops.
For many years, Ronnie worked on a variety of arts and craft-type projects associated with The ARC, was an active volunteer for the Lewis County Humane Society and Veterinary Clinic in Glenfield, and loved to help out at the Thrift Store in Boonville.
Ronnie thoroughly enjoyed gardening, traveling to the Rome YMCA, cooking and making biscuits, eating out and walking. He will always be remembered for his engaging personality, his passion of playing “Sheriff”, and his true enjoyment of going to Summer Camp. Although he liked watching television in general, he had a particular fondness for game shows, especially Price is Right, Wheel of Fortune, Deal or No Deal, and others.
Surviving are his mother, Evelyn L. Jones, of Meadowbrook Terrace, Carthage, NY; his fraternal twin brother, Randy P. Jones (who always called Ronnie his “hero”), of Glenfield; two sisters, Sandra L. Scott, of Montrose, PA, and Brenda J. Grindal, of Harrisville, and nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his father, Randall, who died in 1987, his sister, Belinda Mahoney, who died in 1996, and his brother-in-law, Jonathan P. Grindal, who died on July 28, 2012.
Funeral Services for Ronnie will be held on Tuesday, May 26, 2015, beginning with a 10:30 a.m. Prayer Service at Scanlon Funeral Home, 14187 State St., Harrisville, followed by an 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial from St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church, Harrisville, with the Rev. Daniel L. Chapin, Pastor, officiating. Burial will be in St. Francis Solanus Cemetery, Harrisville.
Calling hours will be on Tuesday, May 26th from 9:00 a.m. until the 10:30 a.m. Prayer Service at the funeral home.
