Paul Jenack Obituary

LOWVILLE, NY ~ Paul E. Jenack, 78, of 7675 Sharp St., Lowville, died peacefully while surrounded by his loving family on Thursday evening, December 31, 2015 in the Hospice Room at Lewis County General Hospital, Lowville, where he was under the care of his family and Lewis County Hospice.

Born on November 20, 1937, in Harrisville, NY, the eldest child of Edward “Ted” and Helen Hathway Jenack, he was a 1955 graduate of Harrisville High School, and received his college degree on 1960 from Canton Agricultural and Technical Institute.

He married Karen Priest on July 15, 1960 in Gouverneur, NY.

His primary working career also began in 1960 when he was hired as a Janitor for Niagara Mohawk, the predecessor to National Grid, and moved to Watertown, NY.  Over the course of his profession, he was promoted to Meter Reader, next, to the position of Driver-Groundman, then as a Lineman, and eventually a Line Foreman while working out of Carthage and finished his career in Lowville.  He retired from the utility company on November 1, 1994 as the Hot Stick Line Foreman after almost 35 years of service.

Paul enjoyed woodworking and was undoubtedly the happiest when he was in his shop creating the next project and piece for some friend or family member.  One of his last custom works was a child’s chair with a bird house on top as a gift for a very special little 3 year old girl, named Oliva.  He also enjoyed hunting and camp times and his time spent with friends golfing, and, most of all, his almost daily coffees with “the boys” at various stops around town.  As an avid reader, he also liked to keep his mind sharp doing crossword puzzles and Sudoku.  Always generous of heart, he was also blessed with a sense of humor that will be missed by all.

Paul held longtime memberships with the NiMo Retirees Club, IBEW, Brown Creek Hunting Club in Harrisville (of which he was the oldest member), and Brantingham Golf Club.

In addition to Karen “Kip”, his wife of 55+ years, he is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, James M. and Paula Jenack, of Lowville, NY, Michael G. and Ann Jenack, of Annapolis, Maryland, and Scott E. and Mohican Laine, of Salt Lake City, Utah; two fraternal twin grandchildren, Owen and Madison Jenack, of Annapolis, Maryland; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Ellen and Rick Bush, of Lowville, Dixie and Thomas Dickinson, of Harrisville, and a brother and sister-in-law, William and Suzanne Jenack, of Fairport, NY; a brother-in-law, Punk Finn, of Lowville, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his parents, a sister, Polly Finn, and a brother, Frederick Jenack.

Per Paul’s wishes, there will be no funeral service or calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, it is respectfully requested that those wishing may consider Memorial Donations to Friends of Lewis County Hospice, P.O. Box 266, Lowville, NY 13367.

Arrangements are with Scanlon Funeral Home, Croghan.
