CROGHAN, NY ~ Patricia A. Nortz, 83, of 9652 Pearl St., Croghan, died Monday, January 19, 2015 at Lewis County Residential Health Care Facility, Lowville, where she had resided since last November.
Born on June 27, 1931, in the Town of New Bremen, NY, the daughter of Melvin and Adah Monnat Campany, she was a 1948 graduate of Fr. Leo Memorial School in Croghan.
She married Eugene W. Nortz on May 19, 1951 at St. Stephen’s Church in Croghan.
Pat was a mother and homemaker who took great pleasure in taking care of and spending time with her large family and friends.
She was a communicant of St. Stephen’s Catholic Church in Croghan, and possessed a great love of faith as was evident to all who knew her. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Altar and Rosary Society, and for many years, worked on the Town of Croghan and Village of Croghan Election Boards.
In addition to her many family activities, she particularly enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, crocheting, and playing cards.
In addition to Eugene, her loving husband of over 63 years, she is survived by her seven children and their spouses, Kathleen P. and Michael Allan, of Watertown, NY, Teresa N. and Elwood Lyndaker, of Brownville, NY, Lindsay H. and Brenda Nortz, of Castorland, NY, Dennis M. and Patricia Nortz, of Watertown, NY, Mark S. and Laurie Nortz, of Fort Mill, SC, Andrew C. Nortz, of Rock Hill, SC and Brian J. and Tricia Nortz, of Dexter, NY; ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren; two brothers, Robert “Pickle” Campany and Richard Campany, both of Croghan, NY, and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her brother, James Campany, and three sisters, Bernadette Boliver, Ellen Nortz, and Mary Theresa, who died at the age of 5 months.
Pat’s Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 22, 2015, beginning with a 10:15 a.m. Prayer Service at Scanlon Funeral Home, Croghan, followed by an 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial from St. Stephen’s Church, Croghan, with the Rev. Leo A. Wiley, retired Pastor, officiating. Spring burial will be in St. Stephen’s Cemetery in Croghan.
Calling hours will be on Wednesday, January 21st, from 2-4 and 7-9 at the funeral home.
