McKinney, TX/Rome, NY ~ Mary Catherine Moneta, age 92, of McKinney, Texas, formerly of Rome, passed away on December 14, 2013 in McKinney, Texas.
She was born on February 12, 1921 in Rome, NY, to Antonio and Catherine (Destito) Mercurio, and was educated in Rome.
She married Casimir “Casey” Moneta, her husband of 66 years, on October 12, 1940 in Rome, NY. Mr. Moneta died in 2006.
Mary worked for Rome Cable and for the former Schafer Dress Store in Rome for many years. She enjoyed golfing and gardening and was a former communicant of St. John the Baptist Church in Rome.
Survivors include her son, Thomas Moneta and wife Joyce of McKinney, Texas; a daughter, Patricia Rowsam and husband Brett of Yukon, Oklahoma; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews as well as other loving family members.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her sister, Catherine Gentile, and brother, Pat Mercurio.
Her funeral services were held in Texas.
