CASTORLAND, NY ~ Marjory Ann Schindler, 88, of 8228 Van Amber Rd., Castorland, died peacefully on Sunday, May 25, 2025, in the comfort of her home where she was being taken care of by her loving family and Lewis County Hospice.

Born October 15, 1936, in Kirschnerville, NY, a daughter of Clarence and Mary Dicob Briot, she attended country school in Kirschnerville and Fr. Leo Memorial in Croghan.

She married LeRoy J. Schindler, Jr. on May 21, 1955 in St. Stephen’s Church, Croghan, with the Rev. Louis Ham, officiating.

She worked at Beaverite Products, Inc. in Beaver Falls and in Croghan for 17 years before retiring.

Marjory took great pleasure in doing vegetable and flower gardening at her home. She liked to travel, especially to Nashville where she enjoyed it’s country music. She also enjoyed taking care of her house plants, attending her grandchildren’s ballgames, and loved walking and biking with her son, Tom.

A life-long communicant of St. Stephen’s Church in Croghan, she was also a former member of the Daughters of Isabella of St. Peter’s Church in Lowville. Additionally, she was a life-member of the Lowville VFW Auxiliary #1612.

Surviving are her loving husband, LeRoy, of 70 years, and three children, Thomas C. Schindler, at home, Debra A. Lyndaker, of TN, and Tammy M. (Jeff) Edick, of Castorland; 8 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great granddaughter; a sister, Beverly Beck, of Utica, and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her son Timothy L. Schindler, who died July 10, 2000; 3 brothers, Clarence “Jimmy” Briot, Clement Briot and Edward Briot, and a sister Elizabeth Kloster.

Marjory’s funeral services will be held on Friday, May 30, 2025, beginning with a 9:45 a.m. Prayer Service at Scanlon Funeral Home, Croghan, followed by a 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial from St. Stephen’s Church, Croghan, with the Rev. Donald J. Manfred, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery, New Bremen.

Calling hours will be on Thursday, May 29th, from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
