Marian Lashua Obituary

ROCHESTER, NY/HARRISVILLE, NY ~ Marian M. (Collins) Lashua, 81, of 69
Ann Marie Dr., Rochester, NY, formerly of Harrisville, died May 11, 2016 at University Hospital in Rochester.

Born October 8, 1934 in Harrisville, NY, a daughter of Reginald and Margaret Collins, she was a 1950 graduate of Harrisville High School, and later took college courses in writing.

She married Leroy W. Lashua on July 21, 1963 in Elkton, Maryland.

Marian was a mother, homemaker and writer for much of her life, and also did bookkeeping.  Her writing skills enabled her to create two unpublished books; one that was entitled “Mrs. Santa Claus” which ended up appearing in Reader’s Digest, and, her second, entitled “The Bonapartes” which was a story about the family of Joseph Bonaparte, Napoleon Bonaparte’s brother, and after whom Lake Bonaparte is named.

Her favorite pastime was writing about her family’s history and ancestry.

In addition to her loving husband, Leroy, of Rochester, she is survived by four children, Viki Duval, Mark Duval, and Laurie Lashua, all of Rochester, and Vincent Duval, of California; 5 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, a great, great grandson, and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her brother, Richard Collins, and her sister Aria Collette.

Marian’s Graveside Committal Service and interment will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2016 at 12 Noon in the Harrisville Community Cemetery, with Michael Gault, Pastor of the Harrisville Christian Church, officiating.
