Janet Casselberry Obituary

NATURAL BRIDGE, NY ~ Janet R. Casselberry, 67, of 44063 Terrace St., Natural Bridge, died at home on Sunday, November 13, 2016, where she had been under the loving care of her family and Jefferson County Hospice.

Born February 3, 1949 in Rochester, NY, a daughter of Leslie and Emily Siebert Scanlon, she was educated in schools in Oklahoma and Arkansas.

She married William Casselberry in 1974 in California.  Mr. Casselberry died in 1998.

For many years, Janet worked as an operator for a telephone answering service in California, as a Manager for K-Mart Department Store, and as a Homecare Adult Care Giver, both in Auburn, Washington. After moving back to New York State, she went to work in 2005 as a cashier for P&C Grocery Store in Carthage, from where she retired in 2011.

An avid traveler, she loved trips to the Old Forge and Lake Placid areas, and especially to the western part of the country.  She also enjoyed fishing, working on old cars, computer games and particularly long hikes anywhere near water.

She is survived by her fiancé, Kenneth D. Graves, of Natural Bridge; a daughter, Anita K. Casselberry, and her son, Thomas E. Casselberry, both of Layton, Utah; ten grandchildren and one great granddaughter; a brother, Raymond Scanlon, and a sister, Nancy McKay, both of Black River, two half-brothers, Leslie and Steve Scanlon, both of Texas, and nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, William, she was predeceased by two brothers, Paul and Tim Scanlon, a sister, Patricia Graves, and a half-sister, Terry Scanlon.

Funeral services for Janet will be held on a later date in Utah.
