HARRISVILLE, NY ~ Jack H. McIntosh, 68, of 980 Edwards Rd. Harrisville, died unexpectedly at his home, on Wednesday, July 29, 2015.
Born December 5, 1946 in Carthage, NY, a son of Henry and Barbara J. Rice McIntosh, he attended Harrisville Central School.
He entered the US Navy in 1964 and served a short period of time before receiving a medical discharge after he and a number of his fellow servicemen acquired spinal meningitis during boot camp.
He married Nancy J. Dobson on February 9, 1972 in the United Methodist Church, Harrisville.
For most of his adult life he worked as a heavy equipment operator for the Town of Pitcairn Highway Department, and retired in 1999 after 27 years of service.
During his high school years ,he was an avid wrestler and came in second in New York State competition. Throughout his life he also enjoyed many activities including fishing and hunting, collecting antiques, metal detecting and trapping. A number of years ago he bought the “McIntosh” mountain and was very proud of the fact that he owned a mountain.
He was a member of the NRA.
In addition to his loving wife, Nancy, of over 43 years, he is survived by three sons, Jack H. McIntosh and his spouse (Scott) Parmeter, Ogdensburg, Adam F. (Brenda) McIntosh, and Joseph A. (Missy) McIntosh, both of Harrisville; daughter-in-law, Barbara McIntosh, Harrisville; 7 grandchildren, Michelle, Kasey, Morgan, Gavin, Madison, Abigail, and Owyn; his siblings, Jerry (Dora) McIntosh, Jill Carpenter and Julie(Rick) Chartrand, all of Harrisville, and Jan(Kathy) McIntosh, of Barnes Corners, and Barbara Louviere, of Indian River; and many nieces and nephews
.
He was predeceased by two sons, Michael McIntosh, who died at the age of 10 in 1980 and Clifford McIntosh, who died January 20, 2015; and a brother Joseph McIntosh.
Per his wishes, funeral services will be private and will be held at the convenience of the family.
There will be no calling hours.
