Hannah Scanlon Obituary
HARRISVILLE, NY ~ Hannah Mary Scanlon, 63, formerly of Maple St., Harrisville, died Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at the Central NY DSO Post Street IRA at 12719 State Route 46, Boonville, NY, where she had resided since 2011.
Born July 15, 1953 in Gouverneur, NY, Hannah Mary was a daughter of Robert E. and Gloria A. Kane Scanlon.
Although born with Down Syndrome, Hannah Mary’s engaging personality far exceeded her physical and developmental disabilities. She took pleasure in working on crafts, various jobs and tasks, and was very good at completing an assigned piece of work.
Throughout her life, she enjoyed being in the company of others and would be especially delighted when little children were around. Always responsive to music, she liked listening to her older sister, Gail, play the piano when they were children, and later loved watching and listening to the “Beatles” and their music.
Surviving are two sisters and two brothers, Gail A. (Don) Ribbick, Bergen, NY, Hubert L. Scanlon, Carthage, Robert E. Scanlon, Harrisville and Diane K. (Larry) Rood, Jacksonville, FL; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by both her parents.
Hannah Mary’s funeral services will be held at a time to be announced later in the spring from St. Francis Solanus Church and Cemetery in Harrisville.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Activities Fund, Central NY DSO, Post Street IRA, 12719 State Route 46, Boonville, NY 13309.
