BEAVER FALLS, NY ~ Frank Barrett Jr., 92, of Hilltop Road, Beaver Falls, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at his home where he was under the care of his family.
Born February 8, 1933 in Jersey City, NJ, the eldest child of Frank Sr. and Grace W. (Burnsen) Barrett, he graduated from Romulus Central School, Romulus, NY, in 1952. He later attended Cortland State College where he received his BS in Elementary Education in 1958 and also attended Oswego State College where he received a Master’s Degree in Education in 1970.
Following his graduation from high school, Frank was drafted into the US Army where he served during the end of the Korean War for two years in Okinawa, Japan. He received his honorable discharge in 1961.
He married Roberta “Bobbie” N. Williams on March 28, 1959 at the United Methodist Church in Lee Center, NY. Bobbie passed away in 2016.
Frank began his early teaching career as a 5th grade teacher for Sodus Central School in Sodus, NY. The couple later moved to Beaver Falls where he became a 5th and 6th grade teacher at Beaver River Central School. In addition to teaching, he also coached varsity tennis, modified baseball, track and field and rifle before retiring in 1988.
As an active Boy Scout leader for many years, Frank enjoyed taking his scouts on many outdoor adventures. This included backpacking the length of Vermont on the Long Trail twice: once with his son, Aaron, in the 70’s and again with his son, Alex, in the late 80’s. Throughout his life, he especially liked swimming, jogging, fishing, and cross country skiing.
