Francis Bango Obituary

Harrisville, NY~ Francis J. “Frank” Bango, 80, of 14424 Lower Maple St., passed away on Sunday, October 25, 2015, at his home with his loving family at his side under the care of Hospice and Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley.

He was born on July 18, 1935, in Harrisville, the son of John and Amy Ralph Bango.  He attended Harrisville schools.

Frank proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army serving from 1953 to 1956.

On March 14, 1960, Frank was united in marriage to Joyce A. Lewis in the United Methodist Church Parsonage in Harrisville.

Frank was employed as a foreman in the construction industry for many area companies with Tuscarora being the company he retired from in 1996.  He was a member of the Local Laborer’s Union #322.  He also did log work for Russell Finch in Black River for many years.  He had an outstanding work ethic and enjoyed doing a full day of work.  He would always be willing to lend a helping hand to others in need.

He was a member of the Silver Dawn Club and the Mullen and Flow Hunting Club.  Frank was a true outdoorsman and loved hunting, fishing, and camping, especially at Huckleberry.  He took many trips to enjoy nature, hunting, and fishing with his sons, extended family, and some of his outdoorsman friends.  They visited Canada to go hunting and fishing and Colorado where they went Elk hunting.

Frank was a proud man and rarely showed his true emotions, except when it came to his beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  He relished in the moments he was able to spend time with them.

Surviving besides his loving wife of fifty-five years, Joyce; are seven children and their spouses, Francis M. Bango and his wife, Santra, Angie Bango Lancor and her husband, Tracy, Jack Bango and his wife, Carla, all of Harrisville, Laurie Sanders, of Utica, Lt. Col. Anthony “Tony” Bango and his wife, Norma, of Camp Lejeune, NC, Robert Bango and his wife, Aria, of Harrisville, and Joe Bango and his wife, Dawn, of Gouverneur; twenty-three grandchildren, Maria (Chris) Bango Campbell, Rosa (Carlos) Toledo, Hilary Bango (Brandon Chamberlain), Gina Marie Bango, Ryan Bango, Lacey Bango, Alicia (Mike) Matice, Nina Lancor, Lindsay Sanders, Nick Bango, Anthony Bango Jr., Paige Bango, Kelci Bango, Ross (Jocelyn) Bango, Rebecca Sanders, Olivia Bango, Grace Bango, Julie Bango, Sophia Bango, Sarah Jo Bango, Rachel Bango, and Francesca Bango; eleven great-grandchildren, Angelo, Joseph, Reagan, Johnathon, Noah, Talia, Gianna, Zaniyah, Dayanna, Daylani, and Levi; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Ralph and Tina Bango, of Lyons Falls, and William Bango and his significant other, Joanne Holly, of Harrisville; four sisters and a brother-in-law, Rose Arnold, Pauline Luther, Emma and Bud Miller, all of Harrisville, and Nancy Murray, of Constantia; an “adopted son” Joe LaBow and his wife, Barb, of Hailsboro; aside from family special friends, Henry Waugh, Steve Lancor and Carl Pierce, hundreds of nieces and nephews; and many “outdoorsman” friends that spent countless hours enjoying nature with Frank.

Frank was predeceased by his parents; a grandson, Brian Daniel Lancor; three brothers, Philip Bango, John Bango, and infant John Bango; four sisters, Angeline Carr, Victoria Luther, and Christine Dafoe, and infant Floria Bango; and special friends, Rusty Clintsman, Robert Robl, Roger Dodds and his son, David Dodds, Bob Davison, Dick Lancor, and Raymond Nichols.

Joyce would like to express her gratitude to her loving family and to Hospice and Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley for the countless hours they spent helping her and caring for Frank.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, October 30, 2015, at 12:00 PM at the New Beginnings Assembly of God, Edwards where the Rev. Michael Neary will officiate.  Family and friends are invited and may call on Friday from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM prior to the service at the church.  Memorial contributions may be made in Frank’s memory to Hospice and Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley.
