Elizabeth "Betty" Kuhl Obituary

Elizabeth Jean” Betty” (Brown) Kuhl, passed away peacefully at home under the care of her family and Lewis County Hospice on Tuesday, April 1, 2025 after a long battle with cancer.

Betty was born April 7, 1945 to Martin and Mary (Kohler) Brown at Lewis County General Hospital. She was graduated from Lowville Academy and Central School in 1962. She began working at Bell Telephone as a switchboard operator after high school. She later worked at the Climax Manufacturing Plant in the payroll department and as a back-up switchboard operator. She began working at the Latex Mill in Beaver Falls in shipping and receiving where she retired in 1999 when the mill closed.

In her spare time, Betty enjoyed reading, bowling, and spending time with her grand and great-grandchildren. She could often be heard telling people to “Read my Gnome”. Betty was a member of the Croghan American Legion Ladie’s Auxiliary, Beaver Falls Fire Department Women’s Group, Town of Croghan Board of Assessment Review, and former secretary of the Croghan Woman’s Bowling League.

Betty is survived by her husband of almost 58 years, Wayne Kuhl of Beaver Falls, son David Kuhl (Leah Murphy) of Beaver Falls, and son Dennis Kuhl (Angela Fowler) of Victor, grandchildren Christopher (Emily) Kuhl of Hamilton, OH, Mikayla Kuhl (Tyler Hanavan) of Liverpool, Joshua Kuhl of Beaver Falls and Rebekah Kuhl of Heuvelton; great-grandchildren Liam, Collin and Cora. Also surviving are a brother Martin Brown of Tupper Lake, sister Joyce Brown of Watertown and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Martin and Mary, she was predeceased by two sisters Judith Andre and Laura Dicaprio and baby boy Kuhl.

In accordance with her wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral service. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Lewis County Hospice.
