LOWVILLE (New Bremen), NY ~ David G. Ferguson, 55, of 6605 Tillman Rd., Lowville, died peacefully in the comfort of his home and surrounded by his loving family on Monday, December 16, 2013, where he had been under the care of his family and Lewis County Hospice.
Born on November 26, 1958 in Rockledge, Florida, a son of Francis and Rosalie Pepe Ferguson, he was educated in his elementary years at schools in North Syracuse. His family relocated to Florida, and he graduated from Titusville High School in Cocoa Beach, FL, in 1976. Following high school, he attended the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and St. Lawrence University in Canton. He then attended Machinist Training School and acquired his journeyman status as a machinist and tool & die maker.
His blessed marriage of 28 years began on August 3, 1985, when he married Marie E. Boliver at the former St. Anthony’s Church in Indian River, NY.
During his younger years, Dave held a number of machinist positions at companies throughout the area, including Stature Electric, Black Clausen, and Lewis & Clinch, all in Watertown. In 1998, he accepted a position with Kraft Foods in Lowville where he worked as a Line Technician for 14 years until failing health forced him to retire in 2012.
An extremely family-oriented man, Dave loved many outdoor activities, including hunting, fishing, camping, canoeing and hiking with his family. Last, but not least, he was an avid reader, and thoroughly enjoyed writing, especially his memoirs.
He was a communicant of St. Stephen’s Church in Croghan, and was a long-time 3rd degree member of its Knights of Columbus. He was Chairman of the Lewis County Right to Life, and was a member of the Beaver River Fish & Game Club.
Surviving besides his loving wife, Marie, are five children, including his two sons, Benjamin Lee Ferguson and Nicholas James Ferguson, and his triplet daughters, Abigail Rose Ferguson, Elena Marie Ferguson, and Mikayla Bernadette Ferguson, all at home; a brother, Mark Ferguson, of Victor, NY; two sisters, Debra Guardino and Kim LeClaire, both of Chesapeake, VA; his step-father, Richard Ames, of Chesapeake, VA, and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, and nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his mother, Rosalie G. Ames, who died earlier this year on March 17th.
Dave’s funeral will be held on Friday, December 20, 2013, beginning with a 10:15 a.m. Prayer Service at Scanlon Funeral Home, Croghan, followed by an 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial from St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, Croghan, with the Rev. Daniel L. Chapin, Pastor, officiating. Burial in St. Stephen’s Cemetery, Croghan, will be in the Spring.
Family and friends are invited to attend his calling hours on Thursday, December 19, 2013, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., at the funeral home.
