Cynthia Wofford

BOONVILLE, NY ~ Funeral services for Cynthia Wofford, 68, a resident of the Post Street IRA, 12719 State Rt. 46, Boonville, where she died peacefully on Saturday, October 28, 2017, will be held on Friday, November 3, 2017 at 12 Noon at Scanlon Funeral Home, Croghan, with Rev Bruce W. Chapman, Retired United Methodist Minister, officiating. Her interment will be in Swinburne Cemetery in Deer River, NY.

Calling hours will be on Friday beginning at 10:30 a.m. prior to her 12 Noon service at the funeral home.

Cynthia was born on August 14, 1949 in Syracuse, NY, the daughter of Walter and Marie (Costa) Wofford, and received her early childhood education at Rome Developmental Center in Rome, NY. 

Although born with Down Syndrome, Cynthia’s engaging personality far exceeded her physical and developmental disabilities. She always liked to look nice and enjoyed having nice clothes.  She took pleasure in working on crafts and various tasks including crafting activities.  Throughout her life, she enjoyed  and was always responsive to music.

Cynthia has no known survivors.  She was predeceased by both her parents and her brother, Michael.   

Heartfelt thanks and gratitude are extended to the many professionals and employees at the Post Street IRA in Boonville for the wonderful love and care provided to Cynthia throughout the past many years of her residence there, and for all of the wonderful care she received while at the Port Leyden and Castorland facilities before moving to Boonville.
