NEW BREMEN/GREENLAWN, NY ~ Beverly A. McCrickert, 94, of Greenlawn, LI, NY, passed peacefully in the presence of her family at her home in Greenlawn where she had been under the care of her family and Hospice.
Born December 4, 1929 in the Town of New Bremen, NY, a daughter of Anthony P. and Veronica G. MacDonald Strife, she was a graduate of Fr. Leo Memorial School in Croghan and later from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Watertown.
She married Edward “Jerry” McCrickert on May 9, 1953 in St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, Croghan, with the Rev. Raphael Ward, OFM, officiating. Mr. McCrickert died July 29, 1996. Jerry had been the owner and operator of Jerry’s Service Station in Greenlawn and also had served as the Greenlawn Fire Chief and Suffolk County Fire Coordinator.
Beverly worked as a mother and homemaker for much of her life.
She was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church in Greenlawn.
Surviving are six daughters and their spouses, thirteen grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by two brothers, James and Kenneth Strife, and two sisters, Sara Purcell and Elizabeth “Betty Jean” Strife, who died in infancy.
Her funeral service will be on Friday, May 31st, beginning with an 10:45 a.m. Prayer Service at Scanlon Funeral Home, Croghan, followed by an 11:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial from St. Stephen’s Church, Croghan, with the Rev. Donald J. Manfred, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in St. Stephen’s Cemetery, Croghan.
