Mrs. Beatrice Zehr, 96, formerly of Shady Ave; Croghan passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 09, 2019 at the Lewis County Health Care and Rehabilitation Center in Lowville.
Beatrice was born May 1, 1922 in Tavistock, Ontario, Canada, the daughter of the late Daniel and Mary (Iutzi) Bast. She was educated at Tavistock Schools. On December 31, 1946, Beatrice was married to Mark J. Zehr. Beatrice was a homemaker, raising a family of five. She also operated a yarn shop in the family business, Lehman and Zehr.
Beatrice enjoyed doing crafts, which included her yearly Christmas ornaments, knitting her famous baby blankets, doing the evening crossword and card games. Her most prized times were spent with her children and grandchildren.
Beatrice is survived by her children, Benjamin (Patricia) Zehr of Indianapolis, ID; Mark (Debra) Zehr Jr. of Greely, CO; Vaughan Zehr of Croghan; Mary (Andy) Grau of Castorland and Jan Zehr of Croghan; nine grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren.
She is predeceased by her beloved husband, Mark; siblings, Florence Boshart, Katherine Roth, Anne Blum and Henry Bast, a grandson, Zachary Zehr and two special sister-in-law’s, Kathleen and Charlotte Zehr.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, April 13, 2019 at the First Mennonite Church with Pastor Ed Steckly, officiating.
