Beatrice Kloster Obituary

CROGHAN, NY ~ Beatrice V. Kloster, 86, of Steepleview Courts, Croghan, died peacefully in the comfort of her loving family on Thursday, August 6, 2015, at the home of her daughter, Belva Queary, of George St., Croghan, where she was under the care of her family and Lewis County Hospice.

Born October 7, 1928, in Lowville, a daughter of Clinton J. and Bertha C. Dicob, she received her early education at Strife Corners District School in New Bremen, and was graduated from Fr. Leo Memorial High School in 1945.

She married Clinton E. “Tinker” Kloster on June 2, 1946 in Temple, Texas while he was serving in the US Army.  Mr. Kloster died on November 7, 2007.

Beatrice began work with Beaverite Products, Inc. in 1952 and worked there until 1977, when her son David was killed in a motor vehicle accident.  She then helped raise his two young children, Tammie and David, before returning to Beaverite in 1985 and worked until she retired as an Inventory Control Specialist in 1990.

Throughout her life she also helped to take care of several older people including her mother, a loving duty she very much enjoyed.  When not working or raising her large family, she took pleasure going on family camping trips, cooking and baking, playing cards and Bingo, and was an avid gardener who particularly liked flower gardening.

Beatrice was a communicant of St. Stephen’s Church in Croghan, and was a member of its Rosary Society.

Surviving are three daughters, Marjorie Rice and her companion, Joseph Briot, Belva J. and husband, Donald Queary, all of Croghan, and Colleen and husband, Jerry Reed, of Carthage; eleven grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren; three brothers, Arthur, Russell and Rodney Houppert, all of Castorland, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her loving husband, Clinton of 61 years, she was predeceased by her son David C. Kloster, who died in 1977, her son-in-law, Charles Rice, three brothers, Stanley Houppert, who died in 1992, Harold Houppert, who died in 2003, Walter Houppert, who died in 2012, and a sister, Helen Thompson, who died in 1980.
