Annette Oates Obituary

HARRISVILLE, NY ~ Annette S. Oates, 79, of Brooklyn, NY, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 17, 2017, at the home of her daughter, Linda Oates, of State St., Harrisville, where she had been visiting.

Born March 26, 1937 in Mount Olive, NC, a daughter of Pink and Sally Wilson Oates, she was educated in North Carolina.

For most of her life, she resided in New York City, where she worked for many years as a home healthcare attendant in Brooklyn.

Annette will forever be remembered for her loving nature and for always being willing to extend a hand in need to her neighbors or anyone she knew.

She loved to dance, watch old time movies, liked to listen to blues music, and especially enjoyed the song, “If You Need Me, Call Me” by soul singer, Wilson Pickett.

She was a member of the New Canon Baptist Church in Brooklyn.

Surviving are her daughter, Linda Oates, of Harrisville; two sons, Carnell Oates and Tony Oates, both of Brooklyn, and grandchildren.

Annette’s funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 26, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. at the Miles Funeral Home, 136 Decatur St., in Brooklyn, NY 11216.

Local arrangements are with Scanlon Funeral Home, Harrisville.
