BEAVER FALLS, NY ~ Sally Jean Bush of Beaver Falls passed away on Sunday, March 25, 2018 at the Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse, where she was in the company of family. She was 69.

Sally was one of the 13 members of the last graduating class of Fr. Leo’s School in Croghan in 1966. Upon graduation, Sally entered the Novitiate program of the Franciscan Sisters in Allegany. She chose her new name to be Sister John Vianney. Before professing her final vow, she left the convent life to join the US Army. She worked as a recruiter being stationed in Germany and the New York City. After retiring from the Army, she returned to Croghan, living on Shady Avenue for several years, obtaining her Associates of Applied Science degree from JCC in 1994. She was then called back to duty in Fort Drum during the Gulf War Crisis. Later, she bought her home in Beaver Falls and became an office worker at Beaver Rite just down the street.

Sally donated her time as a volunteer at the library and the humane society. She donated funds to a wide variety of places. Her final donation was her body to Upstate Medical University in Syracuse.

Sally loved her large family. She is survived by three brothers; Ronald (Beverly) Bush; James (Arline) Bush; Kenneth Bush; a sister, Cynthia (Gene) Czajkowski; 24 nieces and nephews, 35 great-nieces and nephews and nine great-great nieces and nephews. Also surviving are two brothers-in-law, Charles Hicks and Frank Buell and a sister-in-law, Cynthia Bush.

She is predeceased by her parents, Leonard and Doris (Schack) Bush; three sisters, Phyllis Hicks, Carolyn Buell and Rita Bush and by a brother, Paul Bush.

There will be no calling hours. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at 10:30 am at St. Stephen’s Church in Croghan followed by a time of friendship and remembrance in the churches fellowship hall.
