LOWVILLE (New Bremen), NY ~ David G. Ferguson, 55, of 6605 Tillman Rd., Lowville, died peacefully in the comfort of his home and surrounded by his loving family on Monday, December 16, 2013, where he had been under the care of his family and Lewis County Hospice.

Born on November 26, 1958 in Rockledge, Florida, a son of Francis and Rosalie Pepe Ferguson, he was educated in his elementary years at schools in North Syracuse.  His family relocated to Florida, and he graduated from Titusville High School in Cocoa Beach, FL, in 1976.  Following high school, he attended the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and St. Lawrence University in Canton.  He then attended Machinist Training School and acquired his journeyman status as a machinist and tool & die maker.

His blessed marriage of 28 years began on August 3, 1985, when he married Marie E. Boliver at the former St. Anthony’s Church in Indian River, NY.

During his younger years, Dave held a number of machinist positions at companies throughout the area, including Stature Electric, Black Clausen, and Lewis & Clinch, all in Watertown.  In 1998, he accepted a position with Kraft Foods in Lowville where he worked as a Line Technician for 14 years until failing health forced him to retire in 2012.

An extremely family-oriented man, Dave loved many outdoor activities, including hunting, fishing, camping, canoeing and hiking with his family.  Last, but not least, he was an avid reader, and thoroughly enjoyed writing, especially his memoirs.

He was a communicant of St. Stephen’s Church in Croghan, and was a long-time 3rd degree member of its Knights of Columbus.  He was Chairman of the Lewis County Right to Life, and was a member of the Beaver River Fish & Game Club.

Surviving besides his loving wife, Marie, are five children, including his two sons, Benjamin Lee Ferguson and Nicholas James Ferguson, and his triplet daughters, Abigail Rose Ferguson, Elena Marie Ferguson, and Mikayla Bernadette Ferguson, all at home; a brother, Mark Ferguson, of Victor, NY; two sisters, Debra Guardino and Kim LeClaire, both of Chesapeake, VA; his step-father, Richard Ames, of Chesapeake, VA, and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, and nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his mother, Rosalie G. Ames, who died earlier this year on March 17th.

Dave’s funeral will be held on Friday, December 20, 2013, beginning with a 10:15 a.m. Prayer Service at Scanlon Funeral Home, Croghan, followed by an 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial from St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, Croghan, with the Rev. Daniel L. Chapin, Pastor, officiating.  Burial in St. Stephen’s Cemetery, Croghan, will be in the Spring.

Family and friends are invited to attend his calling hours on Thursday, December 19, 2013, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to Lewis County Fund for Hope, c/o Joanne Dicob, Lewis County General Hospital, 7785 N. State St., Lowville, NY 13367.

Marie, and kids:
So sorry to hear of the passing of your Dad, your husband. I hope you can take comfort in those around you who support and love you. Remember the good times, it will help you get through. From someone who lost their father to cancer, Paul Bush, at age 56, I can tell you that the loss never goes away but the hole in your heart will eventually scar over and you will be more able to recall the good times you spent with your loved one more than the sorrow you feel today. Sending love and prayers your way, The Farneys

Marie, I am so sorry to hear of your family's loss. I never knew Dave, but I know he was a wonderful person. I did get to send him a birthday card a few weeks ago. I know it feels like the heart of your family is gone and that will take a long time to recover from. God bless you.

Dave and I attended Titusville High together and when he was at UTC, my family lived in Chattanooga and we spent many good time there. After he left for New York and I was stationed in New York with the Coast Guard, I would visit Dave in Upstate NY. He was a great friend and even though we have not seen each other for many years, Dave has a special place in my heart.

Dave is now at rest in heaven.

To the family of Dave, you don't know me but my father was Dave's high school wrestling coach at Titusville High School. My father loved and adored Dave and thought the world of him. I went to a different high school but I remember him very well and always held him close in my heart just knowing how my father felt about Dave. Sending you all many thoughts and prayers and know he was loved in Florida too. My deepest sympathy.

Marie and family,
You have our deepest sympathies. There isn't much that I can say that will ease the ache in your hearts right now, but know that we keep you in ours and in our thoughts. There is a poem called The Rose Still Blooms Beyond the Wall. Its about a rose who flourished here but found a crack in the wall and went through to the other side only to find that was just as beautiful on the other side and bloomed even more. Heaven has another rose in its beautiful garden. Our love and prayers, Carol and family

Marie and family, My thoughts and prayers are with each of you.

A beautiful soul has entered Paradise ... Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man The things which God has prepared for those who love Him. 2 Corinthians 2:9

To the family...I pray for your peace and please know what "FERGY" meant to all of during those high school days and beyond....."Fergy" will be missed as our long time friend! His courage he lived his life with was the some courage hedeparted this life with. He was an inspiration to me (and to all of us) as our wrestling team leader and he was that same inspiration as he bravely fought a great fight to the end..... His hand will be held up in victory as he leaves this life to enter into eternity.
GOD BLESS YOU ALL!!
