CROGHAN, NY ~ Lorna L. Lehman, 86, of 9943 Main St., Croghan, died on Wednesday, October 9, 2013, at her home surrounded by her loving family where she was under the care of her family and Lewis County Hospice.

Born May 17, 1927, in Belfort, NY, a daughter of Edward and Gladys Garnsey Taylor, she was educated in district schools and was a 1945 graduate of Beaver Falls High School.

She married Eldred F. “Nick” Lehman on November 1, 1947, in the former Evangelical United Brethren Church in Beaver Falls, NY, with the Rev. Frank Hube, officiating.

She later worked as a waitress at Yousey’s and Bergen’s Camps in Long Pond, at the tree farm nursery in Dadville, and at the Croghan and Beaver Falls Beaverite from where she retired in the mid 1980’s after 20+ years of service.

She was a member of the Castorland Baptist Church and had been an active member and volunteer of the women’s group, Gleaners, and the Black River Campers Club.

Lorna loved to travel and throughout her life had traveled with her husband to every state in the continental United States. For many years she liked to bowl, enjoyed snowmobiling, was an avid Euchre card player, and, above all, loved spending time with her large family.

Lehman; a granddaughter, Adryian Marie Boliver; two sisters and three brothers, Helen Blighton, Ruth Button, Virgil Taylor Alvin Taylor and William Taylor, and two brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Virgil and Florence Lehman, and Henry Kloster.

Lorna and Nick were a couple of the first people to make my acquaintance and warmly welcome me when I moved to Croghan a few years ago. They, and several of their family members since, have convinced me I've come to the right place. My deepest sympathy goes out to you all.
