Lowville, NY ~ Kenneth M. Barbarito, 53, of 7299 Number Four Rd., Lowville, died Thursday, February 14, 2013, at University Hospital in Syracuse following a courageous battle with cancer.

Ken was born on July 17, 1959, in Gouverneur, NY, a son of Albert L. and Pearlie Alice Miller Barbarito.  A lifelong resident of the area he was a graduate of Lowville Academy class of 1979.

He was a mechanic by trade and had been employed at the Lowville Farmers Co-Op, Suzuki of North Watertown, Yancey Sales & Service in Lowville and Adirondack Cycle and Snow in Boonville.
Ken had many friends in the area and was always doing things for others especially if they had a vehicle in need of repair.

For fifteen years he was a member of the Valley Snow Travelers.  He was a well known snowmobile and motorcycle racer and truck pull participant. He was also a member of Rusty P’s Pool League for many years.

Surviving are his father Albert of Grieg; a son, David M. Barbarito, of Lowville; four brothers and two sisters-in-law, Albert Dennis Barbarito, of Lowville, Jackie Barbarito, of Virginia,  Anthony “Tony” (Kathy) Barbarito, of New Hampshire and Michael (Michelle) Barbarito, of Croghan, and his companion, Diane Taylor, of Glenfield.

A Memorial Service will be held at 7:00 PM Thursday, February 21, 2013, at Scanlon Funeral Home, 9791 Main St., Croghan, with Rev. Daniel L. Chapin, Pastor of St. Stephen’s Church, Croghan, officiating.  Interment will be private.

Relatives and friends are invited and may call from 5:00 to 7:00 PM prior to the service at the funeral home.

Memorial Contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice.

Kenny was our neighbor for many years, we couldn't ask for a better neighbor. He was also a very good mechanic. It breaks our heart to look at his house and know he's gone forever. He will be missed.

So sorry to hear about the loss of your son. I will always remember him as a cute little boy who played with my children, Pam and Bob.
