Warren Schantz Obituary

LOWVILLE, NY ~ Warren A. Schantz, 96, of Pine Grove Rd., Lowville, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 31, 2022, in the Palliative Care Unit at Lewis County General Hospital in Lowville.

A WWII veteran, Mr. Schantz entered the US Navy on September 28, 1944 and served in the Asiatic/Pacific Theatre of Operations, among other places. He was honorably discharged on July 10, 1946 as a Radarman Second Class.

Mr. Schantz worked in education most of his life and retired in 1982 from South Lewis Central School as a Teacher/Guidance Counselor and Administrative Assistant.

Born October 6, 1926 in Lowville, NY, a son of A. Arthur and Esther Zehr Schantz, he graduated from Lowville Academy in 1944, and later was graduated from Rider University in Trenton, NJ, where he received his BS degree in Business Education, and from Purdue University, where he received his MS degree in Guidance and Counseling.

He married Marion L. Fisher on November 7, 1953 in Madrid, NY.

Surviving besides his loving wife, Marion, of 69 years, are two sons and daughters-in-law, Steven A. and Carol Schantz, of Viera, FL, Dean A. and Adriana Schantz, of McDonough, GA; a daughter and son-in-law, Christine L. and Steven Marsh, of Portland, ME; 8 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his brother Clair R. Schantz, who died in 2000, and two twin sisters, Janet R. Schantz, who died in 1987, and Janice Stahlin, who died in 2018.

A private burial service will be held at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours.
