Althought I have never met Carole, I know her son Kevin. Judging by the way her son Kevin conducts himself, Carole must have been a wonderful parent and excellent role model. My sympathy goes out to the entire Widrick family.

Carole and I were classmates at Mercy. She and I did all assignments together as we were assigned by last name alphabetically. She was a kind and hard working partner. So sorry to hear she had passed on. I am sure that she is now in Heaven.

Virgil, Bruce, Brian, Lynn, "Lisa", Brenda, Kevin, Dean and families - Growing up across the street from all of you, I spent alot of time at your house over the years; mostly while in grade school playing with Lisa. Carole was my sponsor when I was confirmed in the Catholic Church and I still have the charm bracelet she gave me as a gift for the occasion. She was a wonderful person who will be missed by all who knew her. Take peace and comfort in knowing she is with Lisa now. My prayers are with all of you. Robin

To the Widrick Family: I can't begin to express the heartfelt sadness with Carole's passing.
I do know that I will never forget her contagious smile, caring and loving personality, and her patience with "the neighborhood" kids dropping by without notice and taking over the kitchen, yard, or driveway; anywhere we could have a football-in-the-snow game, or run through the huge pile of leaves that your yard always had, or just a hang out sometimes in the wee hours(because none of us wanted to go home..). You were was always welcoming. Carole, I will never forget the advice, hugs, and funny mentions of what could will never be forgotten.

May it comfort you to know she is at peace now in heaven with Lisa. Maybe she and Ralph are discussing the latest Beaver River basketball game.

Carole was a most wonderful childhood friend. We would meet half way between our home at St. Stephen's cemetary. Her little brothers always in cowboy hats, her mom in the kitchen with cookies for us. Seeing each other in later years was always a great pleasure. May everyone find comfort knowing what a lovely lady she was and how fortunate she was in our lives.

Thanks to all of you for expressing such love and well wishes to my mom and family. It's greatly appreciated by all of us.

You should know that my mom died very peacefully, and in no pain, with many of her loved one's with her. She had, for several years now, suffered from a type of atypical Parkisonism Syndrome called Corticalbasal degeneration, or CBD. A disease characterized by nerve cell loss and atrophy (shrinkage) of multiple areas of the brain including the cerebral cortex and the basal ganglia. Basically over the course of about 6-8 years a person slowly loses their personality, physicality, and eventually their life.

Reading the above comments, I'm reminded of what a life that was. Mom certainly touched a lot of souls in her time, in more ways than I was even aware (I never knew she was your sponsor, Robin...)

That said, mom's passing was a relief. That may sound cold, but it's not meant to be. Her body had long since gone as her quality of life was very minimal. But her soul stayed, it stayed just long enough to celebrate one last Christmas, and then it too was gone. On to the next world.

Bobby, I miss you too. Seems like forever since our paths have crossed.

From all my family; Peace, gratitude, and safe journeys to you all....

Thought of you all today..Please know we care through the power of prayer..Carole and I go back to Mercy days..Our rooms at McCauley Hall were not completed. Carole's room was next to mine. We awoke to each other ..literally..washing up in the sinks in our rooms as we looked at each other through a hole in the wall ~our mirrors were yet to be installed! Carole was in our wedding May 1962. She had such a beautiful shower for me. And then the wedding day. My dad (Vinny King) walked me up the aisle .Not to be outdone, Carole during the wedding was carried down the aisle by my dad!.Carole was pregnant and fainted but thankfully she was able to rejoin us. Her resilient nature shining even back then.I know that is not funny but this has been told and retold so many times! We even reminded she and Virgil of it this past May . As with this story Carole touched our lives in many ways and as her heavenly spirit lives on she will continue to do so.

To Carole's family: Today will be a very difficult day for all of you, Kevin your post was very insiteful about her illness and what she went thru, but also it told me once again of what comes to mind when I think of your family "togetherness" Over the years, it wasn't often that I would drive by your parents house and I wouldn't see one or several of your cars in the driveway. You all shared "life" together at their home, sporting events, or else where. Your strength and peacefullness last night were again an example of the gift of "faith" that your mom(dad) gave to all of you, so as you lay your mom to rest today, I believe she will be at peace (reunited with Lisa) and knowing that her gifts from God that she was given(and cared most about) Love, Compassion, Faith, a beautiful smile, Zest for life, and family togetherness, will live on in all of you and extend out to all of your families, May she find Joy in Heaven for a job well done here on Earth! Hugs filled with Love and Peace to all of you! Linda

Virgil and family,
I have been thinking about all of you and you have been in my prayers. This is a hard time but you have the comfort of each other and all those who truly loved Carol. Carol was one of a kind always a smile on her face and brought joy and laughter to those around her. Carol always took time to stop in and see me when I was visiting Mom and Dad and we would just have a great time catching up and sharing laughs. She is know surrounded by a lot of people her love her and has her quality of life back.
Love to you all, Linda

As I am home after Carole's funeral I can't help and think about all the good times the Golden's, Monnat's, Widricks and Fitzgerald's had over the years. Picnics at Evergreen Campsites with Fr. Anthony, us kids playing outside in the winter when it was freezing. how you boys would throw snowballs at us poor girls. In the fall how we would play hide n seek after dark, and summer with baseball, kickball with the bats flying around over us. How Lucky we were to have 20 kids in 4 houses.

We always thought your mother was the nicest and the prettiest, (she never yelled at us ever).

I will hold on to all these wonderful memories and I know you all will also. God bless you Virgil for being that wonderful husband every wife hopes for. When you said those words "for better or worse, in sickness and in health" it certainly was a covenant for your marriage.

Virgil and Family-
I was so saddened to hear the passing of Carole.......she retired the year that our son Noah started school and he loved her as an aid in Kindergarten. You could tell she loved her job at school and loved being around the children. A very loving and caring person.
Relating to your post Kevin I know what you mean by quality of life as Todd and I have lost both of his parents to cancer. His mom almost 6 years ago and his father last January. You don't want to see them suffer and know that they will be better off with the Lord in Heaven. I remember praying to God several nights to take them to be with him knowing they were definately better off with him. She will be missed and it is heartbreaking to lose a parent but she was and still is an angel and will be by your side always.
May you find peace and comfort at this difficult time. God Bless.

Virgil, Kevin and the rest of the Widrick Family: Although I hadn't seen Carole in several years, I did think of her often with fondness. When Lisa and I were friends in early adulthood, she became my friend also. She was always a thoughtful and kind woman and I admired her greatly. Even after Lisa moved away and we lost touch, I would still get updates of her life whenever I ran into Carole around town and I always got a Christmas card! Lisa was my firstborn's Godmother and Carole always remembered my childrens names when we visited. When I heard of her passing, I smiled a little and said "say hi to Lisa for me, Carole!" :D

Dear Virgil and family,

We were so sad to hear about Carole Ann. She was a very special person, and a wonderful cousin. We are so glad that we were able to spend a few minutes with her a little over a year ago when we ran into her at L.C.G.H. while we were there visiting Mom. She will be greatly missed but forever remembered.
