Mary K. Demo
CROGHAN, NY ~ Mary Kathryn Demo, 78, of 7162 Belfort Road, Croghan, died with her loving family at her side on Monday, July 11, 2011, at SUNY Upstate Medical Center, Syracuse, NY, where she had been a patient for the past four weeks.
Mary was born on June 1, 1933, in Boonville, NY, a daughter of Albert and Julia Moltz Fey. She was educated in Boonville and was graduated from Boonville Central School in 1951.
She married Eugene P. Demo on July 13, 1957, in St. Joseph’s Church in Boonville.
Shortly after her graduation from high school, she went to work as a secretary for Shaffer’s Motor Sales in Boonville until her marriage in 1957. Following her marriage, she worked as a mother and homemaker until 1973, when she went to work at Beaverite Products, Inc., in Beaver Falls, and retired from their Croghan plant in 1995.
Mary was a communicant of St. Stephen’s Catholic Church in Croghan, and along with her husband, was one of the first active greeters of the church for over 20 years. She was also a member of the church’s Rosary Society and the Beaver River Memorial Post 1663 American Legion Auxiliary in Croghan.
Throughout her life, Mary’s special enjoyments included bowling in the women’s leagues, doing jigsaw puzzles, playing Bingo, meeting with her friends to have morning coffee at Wishy’s, watching women’s soccer, spur of the moment family barbeques, and most of all spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her loving husband, Eugene, and her five children; Susan D. (Stuart) Salmon, of Glenfield, Diane L. (Keith) Philo, of Carthage, Gary S. Demo, Joseph A. Demo and Linda A. (Daniel) Nuffer, all of Croghan; a brother, James (Lois) Fey, of Boonville and a sister, Shirley Flynn, of Glenfield; 15 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a son, Randy P. Demo, who died in 1986, a brother, Clarence Fey, who died in 2000, and a son-in-law, Richard Thomas, who died in 2010.
Mary’s funeral will be held on Friday, July 15, 2011, beginning with a 9:15 a.m. prayer service, at the Scanlon Funeral Home, Main St. Croghan, followed by a 10:00 a.m. funeral Mass from St. Stephen’s Church, Croghan, with the Rev. Daniel L. Chapin, Pastor, officiating.
Burial will be in St. Stephen’s Cemetery, Croghan.
Calling hours will be held from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Stephen’s Church, Croghan, NY.

So very sorry to hear of Mary’s passing She was so good to me as a kid, when Randy & I were hanging out together. Always making me feel like one of the family.
