HARRISVILLE, NY ~ Madeline Dawn Trombley, 81, of 14321 Maple St., Harrisville, died Thursday, April 28, 2011, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Madeline was born in Black River, NY, on June 24, 1929, a daughter and the youngest child of William and Leta Bigness Conklin. She was educated in Watertown schools. As a young girl, she moved to California and moved back to Watertown when she was 14.

She married Raymond A. Trombley on November 16, 1946, at St. James Church in Carthage, and together, they enjoyed over 64 years of marriage.

A mother and homemaker all of her life, she took great care and pride in raising her large family.

She had been a communicant of St. Francis Solanus Church in Harrisville since moving there in 1985 from Carthage where she had been a parishioner of St. James Church and where she was a member of the Daughters of Isabella.

Madeline was well known for her elaborate pencil drawings and sketches, mural wall paintings as well as refurbishing older dolls and making clothes for them. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family, crocheting, scrapbooking and working on her computer. She also was an avid baker.

In addition to her loving husband, she is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Dawn M. and Leroy Davis, Karen S. and Ronald Baillargeon, Christine A. Noyes and her companion, Fred Marsh, all of Harrisville; three sons, Brian A. Trombley, of Carthage, Bruce A. Trombley, of Harrisville, and Bart A. Trombley, of Tupelo, Mississippi; 19 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; 1 great-great granddaughter, and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her granddaughter Nichole M. O’Day, who died on May 28, 2005, a great granddaughter, Jacquelyn Buskey, who died on February 24, 1998, two brothers, Norris and Bill Conklin, and four sisters, Oneita Forkey, Jean Shauver, Lola Hewitt and Lillian Frank.

Madeline’s funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, May 5, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church, Harrisville, with the Rev. Robert Decker, Pastor, officiating. Interment will be in St. Francis Cemetery, Harrisville.

There will be no calling hours.

Memorial donations may be made to the Harrisville Rescue Squad or to the American Cancer Society, 6725 Lyons St., PO Box 7, East Syracuse, NY 13057.

Arrangements are with Scanlon Funeral Home, Harrisville.

Our thoughts and Prayers go out to all family members. I am truly sorry I’ve been negligent in getting up to Harrisville more!Aunt Molly and uncle Pete were and are the best. I remember hitch hiking to Carthage and we’d play Conasta and other card games. Aunt Molly is with my mom and dad in heaven along with all her brothers and sisters. Love , BUTCH @ DIANE

My prayers and thoughts are with you at this difficult time. My brother and I will always remember grandma Trombley. My deepest sympathy.

Our sympathy goes out to the entire family. After that many years of marriage Ray will feel that part of him is missing. God will watch over the family and help you through this difficult time. Deepest sympathy to all.

My prayers and love go out to the entire family. My memories of Ma were of a childhood safe refuge. I’ll always remember the card games and definitely the square dancing. Pops we love you.

My prayers and deepest sympathy for Dawn and the Trombly family. Memories of such good times at their home, always felt like one of their “kids”. Madeline made us the best doll clothes and there was always goodies to eat. God Bless you all.
