Kay E. Parow
Born on June 28, 1942, in Carthage, NY, a daughter of Robert E. and Thelma C. DeLawyer Hooley, she was graduated from Harrisville High School in 1960.
She married Wesley W. Parow on January 28, 1961, at St. Francis Solanus Church in Harrisville.
During the early 1970’s, she went to work for the former Lally’s Manufacturing Company in Herrings, and during the late 1970’s, she worked in the kitchen at Carthage Area Hospital.
Mrs. Parow was a life-long communicant of St. Francis Solanus Church, and was a member of the Fowler Chapter of TOPS.
Throughout her life she took pleasure in a number of hobbies and interests including knitting and crocheting, camping trips, cooking, flower and vegetable gardening, and shopping. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, family and special dogs, Jessie, Jenny and Candy.
Surviving besides her husband, are a son and two daughters, Bruce J. Parow and Melissa L. Parow, both of Harrisville, and Julie A. (Peter) Engelhart, of Glenfield; two grandsons, Dylan W. Parow and Ethan W. Parow, both of Harrisville, and a step grandson, Zachary S. Engelhart, of Virginia Beach, VA; a brother and sister-in-law, Stewart and Carolyn Hooley, of Lowville, and several nieces and nephews.
A brother, Thomas Hooley who died in 1994, and a sister, Marlene Bango, who died in 2006, predeceased her.
Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, beginning with a 10:15 a.m. prayer service at the Scanlon Funeral Home, Harrisville, followed by an 11:00 a.m. funeral Mass from St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church, Harrisville, with the Rev. Robert Decker, pastor, and the Rev. Christopher Looby, pastor of St. Mary’s Church in Brushton, NY, con-celebrating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Edwards.
Calling hours will be from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to either the Lewis County Humane Society, 6388 Pine Grove Rd., Glenfield, NY 13343-1820 or to the American Diabetes Association, 356 N. Midler Ave., Syracuse, NY 13206.

Remember “Those we love are never gone; they live on within our hearts.” (Mom passed away 17 yrs ago this coming Sat. 7/3, and a day doesn’t go by where I don’t think about her and keep her in my heart, as I know all of you will for Kay. Mom & Kay will be laughing together in no time, I just know it!)

I was saddened to hear about Kay. I had so looked forward to seeing her again this summer at our class reunion. I hadn’t seen her in 52 years, but I remember her as a sweet and kind person. My prayers are with all of you.
