HARRISVILLE ~ Carol Ruth Paul Murphy, 84, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, formerly of Harrisville, passed away on December 25, 2009, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls.

Born June 4, 1925, in Potsdam, NY, the daughter of Kyler and Mildred McNulty Paul, she grew up and attended schools in upstate New York. She earned an education degree from the State University of New York at Potsdam in 1945.

She married Gerald Francis Murphy of Oswegatchie on September 2, 1950. They had resided in Maryland for 44 years before moving to Pocatello, Idaho, in 1994, where they remained happily married until Mr. Murphy’s death in 2007.

Carol enjoyed the last two years of her life at the Fairwinds-Sandcreek Retirement Community, where she enjoyed the company of many new friends and pleasurable events.

She is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas and Dawn Murphy, of Doylestown, PA, and Timothy and Darla Murphy, of Idaho Falls, ID; a sister, Jane (Phil) Lehrbach, of Penfield, NY; 5 grandchildren, Austin Murphy and Karen Murphy, both of Idaho Falls, Christa (Patrick) Griffie, of Cecilton, MD, Jon Murphy, of Philadelphia, PA, and Thomas Murphy, of Doylestown, PA; and a great grandson, Evan Griffie, of Cecilton, MD.

In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her brother, Robert Paul, of Norwich, NY.

A memorial service followed by a graveside committal service in the Harrisville Cemetery, Harrisville, will be held in the Spring.

Local arrangements are with Scanlon Funeral Home, Harrisville.

Dear Tom and Tim,
Your mother was a wonderful person and I shall always remember her cheerful smile and kindness. I still have great memories of the summers we kids spent together when you visited your grandparents 40 years ago! You and your families are in my thoughts and prayers.
